Assessment

Our holistic and comprehensive speech, language, and AAC assessments focus on understanding each individual's unique strengths and abilities. By taking a personalised approach, we determine the need for assessment based on the person's needs and background. Additionally, we analyse the results with strong consideration of root causes of the client's learning differences as well as the context of the cultural model of disability. We ensure that our evaluations are thorough and engaging, providing a complete picture of the client's communication abilities.* Our assessment method helps us create effective, individualised intervention plans that support and enhance their natural communication skills, fostering growth and confidence.

*Standardised assessments are only used in consultation with parents/carers/clients when necessary, such as for qualification or funding purposes, as they are unlikely to provide a complete picture of the client's comprehension skills. A neurodiversity affirming approach is used to gather outcomes through the use of informal and valid tools including language samples (in person and/or video), play observations and interviews with the parent/carer/client and support network.

Therapy

Paediatric Clients (2-18 years of age)

Our effective speech and language interventions are customised to meet the unique needs and preferences of each child and their family. We collaborate closely with families and carers to set personalised goals, ensuring that our approaches are not compliance-based and align with the child's specific requirements, including their regulation needs. Clients are supported through strength, sensory-based and neurodiversity affirming approaches. Sessions are client-led and play-based and incorporate activities that are intrinsically motivating. By using individualised strategies, we create a supportive and responsive environment that promotes meaningful progress and enables children to communicate in the ways that work best for them.

Adult Clients (18-50 years of age)

We support adults, and in particulat late-diagnosed Autistic and ADHDer clients, in discovering and understanding their unique communication needs, preferences and styles. Together, we explore various communication tools within AAC, as well as how communication needs may fluctuate with changes in regulation.
